Statewide Crackdown on Domestic LPG Black Marketing; 3,080 Cylinders Seized in 12 Days
Jaipur, February 2026: Acting on the directions of Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sumit Godara, the Food and Civil Supplies Department conducted a statewide special enforcement drive against the misuse, black marketing, illegal refilling, hoarding, and commercial use of domestic LPG cylinders. The two-week intensive campaign was carried out from February 16 to February 27, 2026, to curb violations and ensure that the benefits of the Chief Minister’s Kitchen Gas Subsidy Scheme reach genuine beneficiaries.
Special enforcement teams constituted by the department carried out raids with a “zero tolerance” policy at gas agencies, warehouses, hotels, roadside eateries, and other suspicious locations across all districts of the state.
Across the state, a total of 2,416 establishments and suspected sites were thoroughly inspected. During the drive, 634 cases of illegal refilling and misuse were registered, and 3,080 domestic and commercial LPG cylinders were seized. In 17 serious cases, First Information Reports (FIRs) were lodged, while departmental action has been initiated in the remaining cases under the Essential Commodities (EC) Act. To ensure transparency in the Chief Minister’s Kitchen Gas Subsidy Scheme, physical verification of 3,967 beneficiaries was conducted on the spot.
Reviewing the campaign, Minister Sumit Godara said that the commercial use of domestic LPG cylinders and illegal refilling are not only economic offences but also pose a serious threat to public safety. He directed officials to continue surprise inspections and special drives at regular intervals in the future.
The department has issued a clear warning that no individual or agency involved in illegal storage or misuse of domestic gas will be spared. The state government aims to ensure transparent subsidy delivery and uninterrupted gas supply to every eligible family across the state.
