Cleanliness drive to be conducted in all Gram Panchayats from March 2 to 4

CM Yogi directs Special Sanitation Campaign ahead of Holi

All DMs and CDOs to nonitor, special focus on prevention of mosquito-borne diseases

Lucknow, March 2026 : In view of the upcoming Holi festival, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure comprehensive sanitation measures and effective prevention of mosquito-borne diseases in rural areas. Under these instructions, an extensive cleanliness and sanitization drive will be carried out in all Gram Panchayats across the state from March 2 to 4. The Chief Minister has asked officials to maintain special vigilance over sanitation arrangements during the festival. All District Magistrates and Chief Development Officers will monitor the campaign.

As part of the drive, cleaning of event venues, ghats, ponds, Amrit Sarovars, and bathing sites in rural areas will be undertaken.

Fogging, anti-larval spraying, and proper waste disposal will also be carried out. Officials have been instructed to ensure special sanitation measures at event locations both before and after Holi celebrations.

Director of the Panchayati Raj Department, Amit Kumar Singh, stated that proper disposal of all waste materials must be ensured after the conclusion of events. All garbage will be collected at the Rural Resource Centers established in Gram Panchayats.

Waterlogged sites will be identified and permanent drainage solutions implemented to prevent diseases such as dengue and malaria.

All District Panchayati Raj Officers have been directed to conduct the special cleanliness drive. Additionally, the responsibility for repair, painting, and safety arrangements at riverbanks, ponds, and other ghats has been assigned to local Gram Panchayats. Continuous monitoring of the entire campaign will be undertaken.
