Women Empowered Through Mahtari Vandan Yojana; Saraswati Kenwat Expands Her Hotel Business

Raipur, March 2026: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Vishnu Deo Sai transferred the 25th instalment under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, providing significant financial support to women across the state. Through a large state-level Mahtari Vandan conference, the scheme’s funds were directly transferred to the bank accounts of women beneficiaries across the state.

The Mahtari Vandan Yojana of the state government is not only providing financial assistance to women but is also motivating them to move toward self-reliance and entrepreneurship. The initiative aims to strengthen the economic foundation of women and empower them to contribute more actively to their families and communities.

During the programme, the Chief Minister interacted virtually with Saraswati Kenwat, a beneficiary from Tendubhatha village in Nawagarh development block of Janjgir-Champa district. He spoke with her to learn about the benefits she had received from the scheme and the positive changes it had brought to her life.

Saraswati Kenwat has emerged as an inspiring example of the scheme’s impact. She used the financial assistance received under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana to expand her small hotel business. With dedication and hard work, she gradually developed the enterprise, and today the hotel is running successfully. Her efforts now generate an additional monthly income of around ₹10,000 to ₹15,000, which has significantly strengthened the financial condition of her family.

Appreciating her initiative, Chief Minister Sai said that the main objective of the state government’s welfare schemes is to make women economically strong and self-reliant. He emphasised that empowering women through financial support and opportunities for self-employment is a key priority of the government.

During the conversation, Saraswati Kenwat warmly invited the Chief Minister to visit her hotel and enjoy tea and snacks there. Responding with a smile, the Chief Minister accepted the invitation and said, “We will certainly visit your hotel. Please serve us tea and also treat us to bhajiyas and pakoras.”

The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government is continuously working to promote the economic and social empowerment of women. Through the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, regular financial assistance is being provided to women, enabling them to move toward financial independence and stability.

He added that the government aims to provide women with economic security, improved healthcare facilities, and opportunities for self-employment so that they can become stronger participants in society’s mainstream development.

The interaction with the Chief Minister brought great joy to Saraswati Kenwat and her family. Her success story has also become a source of inspiration for many other women in the region, encouraging them to utilise government support schemes to build self-reliant livelihoods.
