Raipur, March 2026: Bhagwati Sahu, a resident of Korda Gram Panchayat in the Balodabazar development block, has emerged as an inspiration for thousands of women who strive to support their families despite challenging circumstances. Her determination and skills have found strong support through the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, which is helping her move steadily toward self-reliance.

Under the scheme, Bhagwati receives ₹1,000 every month directly in her bank account. This financial assistance has proved to be a lifeline for her work. She uses the money to purchase essential raw materials needed for sewing, such as thread, needles, and buttons, ensuring that her work continues without interruption.

Bhagwati shared that her husband, Rajjan Sahu, is a farmer by profession and works hard to support the family through agriculture. Recognising the need for additional income, Bhagwati took up sewing three years ago and began contributing to the household finances through her skills.

Speaking emotionally about her journey, Bhagwati said there was a time when she had to think carefully even before spending on small daily needs. Today, however, the income she earns through sewing, combined with the financial support provided by the government scheme, has brought a sense of dignity and self-respect into her life.
