Policy to Improve Services at E-Service Centres for Citizens: IT Minister Ashish Shelar
Mumbai, March 2026 : The state government aims to ensure that all citizens receive government e-services easily and without inconvenience. Therefore, various digital services of the government should be provided to citizens smoothly through Maha e-Seva and Aadhaar service centres. At the same time, to speed up the services of centre operators and resolve their issues, the Information Technology Department should prepare an ideal operational framework and a comprehensive policy within the next one month, directed Information Technology Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar.
A meeting regarding various demands of Maha e-Seva Centre and Aadhaar Service Centre operators in the state was held at the Mantralaya under the chairmanship of Minister Shelar. The meeting was attended by Information Technology Department Secretary Virendra Singh, MahaIT Managing Director Sanjay Katkar, MahaIT Director Bhuvaneshwari S., and office-bearers of the All-Level Maha e-Seva and Aadhaar Centre Association.
Minister Shelar said that as the need for e-services and Aadhaar-related services among the general public is increasing, citizens must receive these services on time. At the same time, the business of Aadhaar service centre operators should also remain sustainable. He directed the Information Technology Department to take immediate action to ensure that pending commissions of Aadhaar services are released to centre operators at the earliest.
While starting Maha e-Seva and Aadhaar service centres, operators had deposited security amounts with MahaOnline, MahaIT and CMS. Minister Shelar directed that a joint meeting be convened to facilitate the refund of these deposits to centre operators.
He also suggested forming a study group to assess the actual operational costs involved in running Maha e-Seva or Aadhaar service centres, so that appropriate measures can be taken to support the operators and improve service delivery.
