Delhi Government Assures Stable Fuel Supply, Urges Citizens to Avoid Panic Buying

New Delhi, March 2026 : The Delhi government on Thursday reassured citizens that petrol, diesel, domestic LPG, and PNG supplies remain stable, urging residents to avoid panic buying amid circulating rumours linked to the Iran conflict.

An official statement emphasized that there is no shortage of fuel and that the supply chain is operating smoothly. Citizens have been requested to refrain from panic-driven purchases and ignore baseless reports about disruptions.

Enforcement teams have been deployed across the city to monitor and prevent black-marketing and hoarding, ensuring that all fuel reaches consumers as intended. A special focus is being maintained to prevent domestic LPG cylinders from being diverted for commercial use in restaurants and other establishments, while arrangements are underway to regulate commercial LPG distribution effectively.

Domestic PNG supply, managed by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), continues to remain stable, with priority allocation for households and transport (CNG) consumers. Similarly, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have confirmed that sufficient stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG are available, ensuring uninterrupted supply to all consumers.

To make LPG booking more convenient, the government has revised the minimum interval between refills from 21 to 25 days. Despite this change, most consumers are receiving their cylinders within two to three days from the booking date. The government encourages residents to use digital platforms for hassle-free bookings, including web portals, SMS, IVRS, missed-call services, and WhatsApp, reducing the need for physical visits to gas agencies.

For example, if a cylinder was delivered on February 1, 2026, the next booking can be placed on or after February 26, 2026, allowing consumers to plan their refills efficiently. Field officers from the Department of Food, Supplies, and Consumer Affairs have also been deployed to assist residents, ensuring smooth bookings and strict compliance with regulations.

The Delhi government reiterated its commitment to keeping fuel supplies steady and urged citizens to remain calm and confident. Authorities emphasized that all measures are being taken to maintain an uninterrupted supply of LPG, petrol, diesel, and PNG, safeguarding the convenience and daily needs of residents.

Citizens are advised to stay informed through official channels and avoid following unverified reports, ensuring that supply systems function efficiently for everyone.
