Sunetra Pawar Inaugurates Getzner India Manufacturing Plant in Baramati
Baramati, March 2026 : Sunetra Ajit Pawar said that the launch of the new manufacturing facility of Getzner India Pvt. Ltd. reflects growing global confidence in the state’s industrial policy and investment-friendly environment.
Speaking at the inauguration of the company’s production plant in the premises of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in Baramati, Pawar said the project would generate employment opportunities for local youth and open new avenues for entrepreneurs, thereby accelerating the industrial growth of the region.
The event was attended by Robert Zeig, MIDC regional officer Hanumant Patil, Baramati Municipal Council president Sachin Satav, executive engineer Vijay Pethkar, Baramati Industrial Estate Association president Dhananjay Jamdar, Getzner Austria CEO Jurgen Reinhalter, former additional chief secretary Dr. Ujwal Uke, EBG Federation chairman Raman Singh Sidhu and Getzner’s resident director Sanjay Risbud, among others.
Pawar said the late deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar had always been committed to bringing world-class and technologically advanced industries to the state. She noted that his vision and persistent efforts played a key role in establishing the Getzner India manufacturing unit in Baramati.
The project has been developed through foreign direct investment and aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing capacity, reduce dependence on imports and support national initiatives such as Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The facility is equipped with advanced PU moulding and secondary processing technologies. Products manufactured at the plant will mainly be used in metro rail infrastructure projects. Since these products will serve as import substitutes, they are also expected to help save foreign exchange, Pawar said, adding that the plant is expected to produce high-quality and technologically advanced components.
She also acknowledged the support provided by MIDC, the state power utility and other government departments in facilitating the establishment of the project.
Pawar said that although Baramati has traditionally been known for agriculture and healthcare, it is now emerging as a modern industrial hub, which will contribute to the overall economic development of the state. At the same time, she emphasised the importance of ensuring that industrial growth does not harm the environment.
She also mentioned that around 1,000 acres of land have been made available for an MIDC project at Junction in Indapur taluka, and the government is working towards the development of the Purandar Airport.
Austrian Ambassador Robert Zeig said that India’s investor-friendly environment is attracting more foreign companies to establish projects in the country. He added that the new facility will focus on quality production while also creating employment opportunities for the local population.
During the event, Pawar inspected the facility and reviewed the manufacturing processes. Officials who contributed to the project’s establishment were also felicitated on the occasion.
