83 LPG Cylinders Seized in Crackdown on Illegal Refilling in Jaipur
Jaipur, March 2026 : Acting on the directions of District Collector Jitendra Kumar Soni, the district administration launched a major crackdown against illegal LPG refilling and black marketing in the city. During the operation, officials seized 83 LPG cylinders and one pickup vehicle, while action was initiated against two individuals involved in the illegal activity.
The action was carried out under a special enforcement drive led by District Supply Officer (Jaipur-I) Priyavrat Singh Charan. The drive was launched to ensure uninterrupted supply of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders and to curb illegal refilling, storage and black marketing in the city, in line with the directives of Bhajanlal Sharma.
As part of the operation, three special enforcement teams were formed to conduct raids at different locations across Jaipur.
During the crackdown, officials seized a total of 83 LPG cylinders, including 69 domestic cylinders and 14 commercial cylinders, along with a pickup vehicle used for illegal transportation. Preliminary investigation also revealed the alleged involvement of Urmil Gas Agency, following which steps are being taken to register an FIR against the concerned individuals at the relevant police station.
Under the leadership of the District Supply Officer, a special enforcement team conducted a raid near the Cheel Gaadi Restaurant area on Airport Road in the Sanganer locality. During the raid, officials confirmed that LPG from domestic cylinders was being illegally transferred into commercial cylinders and sold in the black market.
During inspection, it was also found that around 15 domestic cylinders contained nearly two kilograms less gas than the prescribed amount. To verify the irregularities, officials from the Legal Metrology Department were called to conduct measurements and further examination at the site.
Strict action has been initiated against the two individuals found involved in the illegal refilling activity.
The enforcement teams included officers such as Enforcement Officer Kavita Sharma and Enforcement Inspector Sunita Chaudhary in Team A; Enforcement Officers Pooja Sharma and Vijaylakshmi Sharma in Team B; and Enforcement Officer Nirmala Chaudhary along with Enforcement Inspector Priya Gangwani in Team C.
In addition to the raid, two enforcement teams also inspected gas agencies in the city and directed them to ensure uninterrupted supply of domestic LPG cylinders to consumers. They were also instructed to address consumer complaints promptly and ensure that unnecessary queues do not form at agency premises.
It is noteworthy that the district administration has been running a special campaign titled “Operation Pravartan – Alert Citizens, Safe City” to curb illegal LPG refilling in Jaipur.
The district administration has also appealed to citizens to immediately inform authorities if they notice any illegal LPG refilling, storage or black marketing activities so that consumer safety and public interests can be protected.
