Bharuch Celebrates ‘Vikas Utsav’: CM Bhupendra Patel Unveils ₹1,350 Crore Development Projects
The Chief Minister laid foundation for 73 projects worth ₹1,248.57 crore and Inaugurated 66 projects worth ₹102 crore bringing the total value of projects launched in the district to ₹1,350 crore.

Bharuch, Gujarat: March, 2026: Chief Minister shri Bhupendra Patel on Saturday dedicated and laid the foundation stones for 139 development projects worth approximately ₹1,350.68 crore in Bharuch district during the ‘Vikas Utsav’ celebration.
Among the major initiatives, the Chief Minister performed the groundbreaking for key infrastructure projects including the Ankleshwar–Rajpipla High-Speed Corridor and Phase-2 of the Ankleshwar airstrip development.
Addressing the gathering, shri Bhupendra Patel said the Gujarat government, under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister shri Narendra Modi, has created strong financial planning to ensure that development works in sectors such as education, healthcare, roads, agriculture and industry never face a shortage of funds.

Additionally, four renovated Jan Seva Kendras developed by the Revenue Department at a cost of ₹1.17 crore were inaugurated to provide citizens with more accessible administrative services.
Focus on Infrastructure and Connectivity
Shri Bhupendra Patel emphasized that the newly launched projects will significantly enhance the ease of living for residents of Bharuch district. The projects span infrastructure, sports, transportation, education and healthcare sectors.
He noted that efforts are underway to strengthen road and air connectivity in the district. Development of an airport at Ankleshwar has begun to connect industrial zones such as Bharuch, Ankleshwar, Dahej and Saykha with global markets. The 44-km Ankleshwar–Rajpipla road will be upgraded into a high-speed corridor at a cost of ₹760 crore, improving connectivity to the Statue of Unity. Work is also progressing to convert the Bharuch–Dahej road into an access-controlled expressway to improve logistics.
Sports and Youth Development
The Chief Minister also announced a new District Sports Complex in Bharuch, which is expected to help over 200,000 young athletes pursue their sporting ambitions. He expressed confidence that such infrastructure will support emerging talent ahead of the proposed Commonwealth Games 2030.
Bulk Drugs Park and Industrial Growth
Highlighting Bharuch’s status as a global chemical hub, CM said India’s first Bulk Drugs Park is being developed across 1,000 acres in Jambusar, which will further strengthen the pharmaceutical manufacturing ecosystem.
Commercial shopping centres with rest house facilities worth ₹50 crore will also be built in Bharuch, Netrang, Rajpardhi and Jambusar to support local trade and visitors.
Facilities for Pilgrims and Rural Development
To support pilgrims performing the Narmada Parikrama, the government will construct eight rest halls (Vishram Halls) in Bharuch and Jhagadia. Additionally, 64 new Panchayat buildings will be built at the village level to strengthen rural governance.
Gujarat’s Economic Growth
Reflecting on the state’s progress, the Chief Minister said that when Gujarat was formed in 1960 it faced severe resource constraints. However, development-focused governance initiated by shri Narendra Modi in 2001 transformed the state’s growth trajectory.
“The state budget was ₹36,000 crore in 2001, which has now exceeded ₹4 lakh crore,” he said.
Bharuch in Surat Economic Region
The Chief Minister announced that Bharuch has been included in the Surat Economic Region growth hub, with ₹1,185 crore recently approved for road infrastructure development. He urged citizens to contribute to the vision of “Developed Gujarat for a Developed India.”
Member of Parliament from Bharuch, Mansukhbhai Vasava, stated that strict action taken by the government against illegal sand mining in Bharuch district and the crackdown on land mafias deserves high appreciation. He noted that the penalties collected during this enforcement drive are contributing financially to development works in Bharuch district. As a result, ordinary citizens are directly benefiting from these initiatives.
He further said that the construction and improvement of internal roads and highways in Bharuch district are being carried out with great precision and speed. These enhanced infrastructure facilities have accelerated the development and expansion of industrial estates in the district.
Addressing the gathering, Minister of state for health shri Prafulbhai Pansheriya, spoke in detail about the continuous stream of development works being undertaken by the central and state governments. He said that former Chief Minister of Gujarat and current Prime Minister Narendra Modi had initiated the true definition of development in Gujarat.
He added that today, under the leadership of Gujarat Chief Minister shri Bhupendra Patel, elected representatives—from village sarpanches to Members of Parliament—are contributing to the development of the district. He also noted that the Prime Minister has presented to the world the ideals of Indian cultural nationalism through the message of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family) and “Bahujan Hitaya, Bahujan Sukhaya” (for the welfare and happiness of the many). According to him, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is implementing these ideals in their true spirit. The government, he said, is committed to the principle of Antyodaya and is working to ensure that every scheme reaches its rightful beneficiaries.
District Panchayat President Mahendrasinh Vansadiya delivered the welcome address, outlining the programme and providing detailed information about the ongoing wave of development in the district.
Chief Minister shri Bhupendra Patel also distributed assistance to beneficiaries under various government schemes during the event.
