Sanju Samson Joins CSK Camp in Chennai Ahead of IPL 2026 Season

New Delhi, March 2026 : India’s World Cup-winning star Sanju Samson arrived in Chennai on Thursday to join the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) camp, marking a major boost for the five-time champions ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, which begins on March 28.

CSK welcomed Samson in style, sharing his arrival across social media platforms. Posts such as “Chettan in Chennai” and “World Champion Sanju Samson is here” reflected the excitement among fans and the franchise alike. A video showcasing his arrival further highlighted the buzz surrounding his much-anticipated inclusion in the squad.

Samson’s move to CSK comes after a high-profile trade deal with the Rajasthan Royals, which saw him switch sides in exchange for senior players Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. The blockbuster transfer has generated significant interest among fans, especially with CSK aiming to rebuild with a younger core this season.

The wicketkeeper-batter is expected to play a crucial role at the top of the batting order. With his current form, Samson is likely to open the innings alongside Ayush Mhatre, providing aggressive starts for the team. His inclusion adds both experience and firepower to CSK’s revamped lineup.

Samson’s arrival has been warmly received by the “Yellow Army,” with fans expressing strong support ever since the trade was finalised. The player himself has previously spoken about his admiration for the franchise and his desire to don the iconic yellow jersey.

In addition to his batting responsibilities, Samson could also take on wicketkeeping duties in select matches, particularly if veteran skipper MS Dhoni requires rest or faces fitness concerns. At 44, Dhoni remains a central figure in the squad, and Samson’s presence offers valuable depth in this role.

Speaking earlier about joining CSK, Samson expressed excitement at the opportunity to share the dressing room with Dhoni. He recalled positive interactions with the legendary cricketer during their time with the Indian team and said he is eager to learn from him over the course of the IPL season.

Samson also acknowledged the support he received from Chennai fans during the T20 World Cup, calling himself fortunate and promising to give his best for the team.

With a refreshed squad and renewed energy, CSK will kick off their campaign against Samson’s former side, Rajasthan Royals, setting the stage for an exciting start to IPL 2026.
