Players Begin Arriving in Chhattisgarh for Khelo India Tribal Games
Raipur, March 2026:Players have started arriving in Chhattisgarh to participate in the Khelo India Tribal Games. Early this morning, a 14-member contingent of weightlifters from Arunachal Pradesh reached Raipur, comprising 13 players and one support staff member.
On their arrival in the state, the athletes received a grand and colorful स्वागत at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur. Officials from the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) warmly welcomed the players by presenting them with roses. The reception was further enlivened by vibrant performances from the traditional Raut Nacha dance troupe, creating a festive atmosphere.
A large number of athletes from various states and Union Territories are expected to arrive in Raipur on March 23, as preparations gather pace for the mega sporting event.
For the first time in the country, the Khelo India Tribal Games are being hosted in Chhattisgarh across three cities — Raipur, Ambikapur, and Jagdalpur. The event will witness participation from around 3,000 tribal athletes from across India, showcasing their talent on a national platform.
From March 25 to April 3, residents of Chhattisgarh will get the opportunity to witness exciting competitions across seven sports disciplines. These include hockey, football, wrestling, athletics, swimming, archery, and weightlifting, with events being held in both men’s and women’s categories.
The आयोजन marks a significant step towards promoting sports among tribal communities and providing them with a मंच to display their skills and achievements at a national level.
