Minister Meghna Sakore-Bordikar Honoured with International ‘Visionary Leader and True Changemaker’ Award
Mumbai, March 2026: Minister of State Meghna Sakore-Bordikar has been honoured with the prestigious international “Outstanding Visionary Leader and True Changemaker” award by the US India SME Council. The award was presented at a grand ceremony held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on March 25, 2026.
The event was attended by several distinguished dignitaries, including Maryland County Executive Marc Elrich, Andhra Pradesh Minister for MSME and NRI Relations Kondapalli Srinivas, Chairman of the US India SME Council Sudhakar Gande, CEO Eliza Pulivarthi, and Neeraj Khairwal. A number of entrepreneurs from India and the United States were also present at the ceremony.
Sakore-Bordikar received the honour in recognition of her impactful initiatives aimed at empowering women, particularly in rural areas including Parbhani district. Her efforts to promote women entrepreneurship and financial independence have led to significant socio-economic transformation at the grassroots level.
Key initiatives led by her include the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme, the ‘Silk and Milk’ initiative, and campaigns focused on empowering single women. These programmes have helped create sustainable livelihood opportunities and enabled many women to achieve economic self-reliance.
The US India SME Council, which works towards strengthening economic cooperation between India and the United States, plays a crucial role in promoting small and medium enterprises, fostering innovation, and enhancing collaboration in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, sustainable development, healthcare, and rural development.
The recognition highlights Sakore-Bordikar’s contribution to inclusive growth and her commitment to uplifting women through targeted policy interventions and grassroots initiatives.
