Forest, Environment & Climate Change Department Minister Inaugurates Falkland Vengpui Road
Aizawl : This afternoon, Pu Lalthansanga, Minister of Forest, Environment & Climate Change, inaugurated the newly constructed Vengpui Road in Falkland, an event organized by the Vengpui Welfare Committee. The event was chaired by Pu H. Zalawra, Chairman of the Vengpui Welfare Committee, with Pu C. Lalrokhuma, Treasurer, delivering the report.
Minister Pu Lalthansanga expressed his appreciation for the community leaders and residents who contributed to the successful completion of the ‘Falkland Vengpui Road.’ He acknowledged the collective effort and strong determination of the community, noting that it was a testament to the power of unity and cooperation. The Minister also emphasized the importance of reliable and honest leadership for future development and the crucial role of the community in these efforts. He urged everyone to continue supporting various developmental initiatives with dedication and integrity.
According to the report, the Falkland Vengpui Road extends to the eastern part of Falkland as well. The road was constructed with an expenditure of approximately ₹480,000 from the Scheme for Financial Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) fund, and an additional ₹477,600 contributed by the local community. Minister Pu Lalthansanga himself contributed ₹100,000 towards the project. The newly constructed Vengpui Road is 460 feet in length, with a width of 4 meters, and the road thickness measures 6 inches. The construction work began on July 8, 2024, and was completed on July 26, 2024.
