Chief Minister Announces Major Benefit for Anganwadi Workers
Jaipur, March 2026: Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Monday announced a major benefit for Anganwadi workers and helpers, transferring ₹1,000 each directly into the bank accounts of 1.22 lakh beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for the purchase of two uniforms. The transfer was made during a programme held at the Chief Minister’s residence.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also distributed cheques to beneficiaries of schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Lado Protsahan Yojana, and Kalibai Bheel Yojana.
Sharma said that Anganwadi workers play a crucial role in nurturing young children and strengthening the foundation of the future generation, thereby contributing significantly to nation-building. He highlighted that several steps have been taken over the past two years to strengthen the Anganwadi system. The government has approved a 10 percent increase in honorarium for Anganwadi workers, helpers, mid-day meal cooks, and other honorarium-based staff, which will come into effect from April 1, 2026.
He added that under the Amrit Aahar Yojana, children aged 3 to 6 years at Anganwadi centres are being provided hot milk five days a week. Efforts are also underway to upgrade and repair Anganwadi centres. Smartphones have been distributed to Anganwadi workers and women supervisors, and plans are in place to provide free eye check-ups and spectacles to workers in the near future.
Call for Participation in Development Campaign
The Chief Minister urged Anganwadi workers to actively contribute suggestions under the Mukhyamantri Viksit Gram-Ward Abhiyan being conducted from March 19 to May 15. He said the initiative aims to prepare a development roadmap for all gram panchayats and urban wards based on local aspirations, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of strengthening rural infrastructure to build a self-reliant India.
Focus on Women’s Empowerment
Sharma reiterated that the development of the state and the nation is possible only through the empowerment of women. He said that under the Lakhpati Didi Yojana, more than 16 lakh women in the state have become financially empowered. In the current budget, the loan limit under the scheme has been increased from ₹1 lakh to ₹1.5 lakh. He also mentioned that a subsidy of ₹5 per litre on milk has benefited women associated with animal husbandry. Various schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana and Maa Voucher Yojana, are contributing to women’s empowerment.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari said that Anganwadi workers play a vital role in shaping the personality of young children. She noted that initiatives such as Lakhpati Didi, Solar Didi, and Bank Sakhi have strengthened women both economically and socially. She added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, historic decisions are being taken for women’s upliftment, with priority given to their education, skills, and safety.
During the event, the Chief Minister also released the annual calendar of activities to be conducted at Anganwadi centres throughout the year. Several officials and a large number of Anganwadi workers and helpers were present on the occasion.
