Advanced Diagnostic Facilities to be Strengthened at Tata Memorial Hospital: Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai, May 2026 : In a significant step towards enhancing diagnostic capabilities, a major Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative has been implemented at Tata Memorial Hospital, one of India’s leading cancer treatment and research centres. Under this project, three advanced Automated Tube Labelling and Barcoding (APTL) systems have been successfully installed, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced.

The Chief Minister stated that these state-of-the-art systems will automate the process of sample labelling and barcoding, significantly reducing the chances of human error. This advancement is expected to improve diagnostic accuracy and enhance patient safety. Additionally, it will streamline clinical workflows within the hospital, making operations more efficient.

He emphasised that in critical illnesses such as cancer, accurate diagnosis and timely treatment are of utmost importance. The introduction of APTL systems will minimise issues like sample misidentification, delays, and handling errors. This, in turn, will enable doctors to receive more reliable reports, accelerating the treatment process and improving patient outcomes.

A Step Towards World-Class Healthcare

The initiative marks a significant step towards aligning laboratory management with global standards through the adoption of modern technology. By leveraging CSR funding for such advanced infrastructure, the project is expected to bring about positive transformation in the public healthcare sector.

Devendra Fadnavis also expressed gratitude to Indian Oil Corporation for its support in implementing this initiative.

Highlighting the broader impact, he said that the deployment of APTL systems will enhance accuracy, transparency, and speed in the diagnostic process. “Prioritising patient safety while effectively using modern technology is a matter of pride for Maharashtra. Investments in healthcare through CSR will play a crucial role in delivering stronger and higher-quality medical services in the future,” he added.
