Applications Invited for Prime Minister Internship Scheme Offering Industry Experience and Monthly Stipend
Mumbai, May 2026 : The Prime Minister Internship Scheme being implemented by the Central Government is a significant initiative aimed at providing young people with hands-on industry experience and improving their employability skills.
Under the scheme, selected candidates will be offered internships ranging from six to nine months in some of the country’s leading companies. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 9,000 during the training period. Candidates and entrepreneurs interested in participating in the scheme have been urged to contact the District Skill Development, Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Centre, Mumbai Suburban.
Internship opportunities are available in reputed companies such as Reliance Industries Limited, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, Larsen & Toubro Limited, Tata Capital and Titan Company Limited, among others.
Officials said the scheme would help youth gain practical work experience, learn new skills, build professional networks, and improve confidence and personality development.
The third phase of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme is currently underway. Interested candidates can register and apply for vacancies through the official portal: Prime Minister Internship Scheme Portal.
According to the District Skill Development, Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Centre, Mumbai Suburban, eligible and interested candidates from the district should make maximum use of the scheme to build a strong foundation for their careers.
The Prime Minister Internship Scheme is an important initiative launched by the Government of India through the Ministry of Corporate Affairs to bridge the gap between education and practical industry exposure. The scheme provides students and unemployed youth an opportunity to work and train in the country’s top 2,000 companies.
The main objectives of the programme are to provide practical work experience, improve skills, prepare youth for employment, and strengthen industry readiness.
Interns selected under the scheme will receive approximately Rs 9,000 per month as stipend. The amount will be directly transferred to the beneficiary’s bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
In addition, candidates will receive a one-time special grant of Rs 6,000 through DBT in two instalments — Rs 3,000 within the first 15 days of the internship and another Rs 3,000 after completion of three months.
The scheme also provides Life and Personal Accident Insurance coverage through the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana. Additional benefits may also be offered by participating companies.
Candidates aged between 18 and 25 years are eligible to apply. Students and graduates from Class 10, Class 12, ITI, Diploma, Graduation, B.E., B.Tech and other educational backgrounds can participate. Applicants must be Indian citizens and should not currently be employed in a full-time job.
