Minister Chhagan Bhujbal Completes Jal Puja for Water from the Manjarpada Project
Nashik : The Manjarpada project has successfully channeled water into the storage tank at Dongargaon in Yevala Taluka. In celebration, Guardian Minister Chhagan Bhujbal performed the Jal Puja at the reservoir, marking the fulfillment of promises made to the local residents. This development ensures a reliable water supply for Yevala and surrounding areas, addressing both current and future water needs.
Minister Bhujbal oversaw the puja ceremony, which included the irrigation of water flowing through the Dongargaon Canal as part of the Manjarpada project. The event was attended by a range of officials, including Sub Divisional Officer Babasaheb Gadve, Executive Engineer Manoj Dhokchawle, Deputy Engineer Ritesh Jadhav, former MP Sameer Bhujbal, and several other notable figures.
During his address, Minister Bhujbal highlighted that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the scheme has been prepared and will be submitted to the government for approval after the SLTAC Committee’s review. He also discussed plans to increase the capacity of the Darsawadi Dam and mentioned ongoing discussions with the Water Resources Secretary and Deputy Speaker Narahari Jirwal about additional water sources for Punegaon.
Bhujbal emphasized the commitment to provide water to Yevala despite various challenges. He expressed confidence that, with ongoing efforts, every household in Yevala Taluka will soon have access to tap water. He also noted that substantial development work worth thousands of crores has been undertaken in the Yevala constituency, including a recent sanction of Rs 560 crore for a four-lane road from Pimplas to Yevala.
Addressing past issues, Bhujbal explained that the canal, initially built in 2006 but abandoned until 2019, required significant repairs and upgrades. A fund of Rs 242 crore was approved for the concreting and lining of the Darswadi-Dongargaon canal, with work progressing swiftly. The canal, which was 80% completed in just six months, now supports water inflow to the Punegaon and Darswadi dams, benefitting both Yevala and Chandwad talukas.
Senior leaders, including Ambadas Bankar and former Zilla Parishad President Mayawati Pagare, extended their congratulations. The program was introduced by Dr. Mohan Shelar and moderated by Prof. Dnyaneshwar Darade. Minister Chhagan Bhujbal also honored Nandur Madhyameshwar Project Division Executive Engineer Manoj Dhokchawle and Deputy Engineer Ritesh Jadhav for their contributions.
