Children’s Talents Shine at Summer Sports Camp

260 Players Receiving Training in 8 Sports; Focus Also on Yoga and General Knowledge

Raipur, May 2026 : A 15-day summer sports camp being organised in Bijapur through the joint efforts of the district administration, the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, and the Education Department is helping nurture the sporting talents of children and giving them a new platform to excel.

The residential camp, being held at Education City, has brought together children from remote and rural areas of the district, who are enthusiastically participating in various training activities.

The camp is being conducted under the guidance of Collector Vishwadeep and District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Namrata Choubey. The primary objective of the initiative is to provide better opportunities to children from rural and far-flung regions and help them develop their sporting abilities.

A total of 260 players from all four development blocks of the district are participating in the camp. Trainers from the Bijapur Sports Academy are conducting regular coaching sessions in two shifts for eight different sports disciplines, including volleyball, football, softball, archery, badminton, swimming, athletics, and kabaddi.

During the training sessions, children are also being educated about the rules of sports, discipline, physical fitness, and healthy lifestyle practices. Daily yoga sessions are being organised to strengthen the participants both physically and mentally.

Along with sports activities, children are also being connected with academic and general knowledge programmes at the Central Library to ensure their overall development.

Players who perform exceptionally well during the camp will later be given admission to the Sports Academy for advanced and specialised training.

The summer sports camp is not only providing children with an opportunity to showcase their talents but is also helping instill confidence, discipline, and a spirit of healthy competition among them.
