Selection Process Announced for Mumbai City District Sports Talent Development Centre
Mumbai, May 2026 : The Maharashtra government’s Directorate of Sports and Youth Services has announced the selection process under the “Mission Lakshyavedh” initiative for the Mumbai City District Sports Talent Development Centre. The programme aims to identify talented athletes in the district and provide them with high-quality training, modern facilities, and expert guidance to help them progress to state, national, and international levels.
Under this initiative, talent development centres have been approved in Mumbai City for three sports disciplines—shooting, table tennis, and weightlifting. Selection trials for these sports have now been scheduled, during which expert coaches will assess the skills of participating athletes. Selected players will be provided advanced training along with career guidance.
The schedule for the selection trials is as follows:
- Shooting and Table Tennis: Kamgar Kalyan Mandal, Dadar – May 26, 2026
- Weightlifting: National Health League, Azad Maidan – June 2, 2026
Athletes under the age of 21 are eligible to participate in the selection trials. Applicants must have either won medals at the district level or participated at divisional, state, or national level competitions.
Interested players are required to submit their applications online. The last date for submission is May 24, 2026. Applicants must upload necessary documents including a birth certificate, passport-size photograph, school leaving certificate or transfer certificate, Aadhaar card, medical certificate, sports achievement certificates, domicile proof, bonafide certificate, and parental consent letter.
Candidates must also bring all original documents on the day of the selection trials. District Sports Officer Nilima Adsul has appealed to eligible athletes to participate and ensure timely submission of applications.
