Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla Inspects Kota City; Issues Directions on Traffic, Roads and Civic Facilities

Jaipur, May 2026: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday conducted an on-ground inspection of various areas of Kota city along with the Divisional Commissioner, District Collector, Superintendent of Police, and senior officials from multiple departments.

During the inspection, he reviewed traffic management, road conditions, encroachments, and public amenities, and directed officials to adopt a planned approach to ensure quick resolution of civic issues.

He said that Kota’s development must be carried out in a systematic and long-term vision so that citizens can benefit from improved mobility and better civic facilities. He emphasised strengthening traffic systems, improving urban infrastructure, and enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the city.

The Speaker instructed the Kota Development Authority (KDA) to install uniform glow signboards across all government departments to maintain visual consistency in the city. He also directed widening of slip lanes at major intersections, removal of encroachments, and proper road parking markings.

He asked the Superintendent of Police to ensure strict enforcement against illegal roadside parking outside designated areas.

Om Birla further directed that Dadabari Circle and the island area be developed with an historical theme. He also suggested beautification of all flyovers with attractive paintings and landscaping through decorative plants.

He instructed the development of Keshavpura Junction, undergrounding of electricity lines from Keshavpura to Ghatotkach, and removal of telephone and cable poles. He also called for the development of Mahaveer Nagar Junction and planning of a smart road from Ghatotkach via MBS College to the MBS road, along with systematic redevelopment of the entire MBS stretch.

The proposal to develop the Science City flyover (Commerce College Junction) with U-turn facilities was also discussed. Additionally, he directed removal of encroachments from all city drains and installation of visual barriers (view cutters) along them.

He further instructed preparation of development plans for Kotia Bhil, Anantpura, and Ramdham Junction/Circle.

The inspection also included detailed discussions on current urban needs and future development plans. He said Kota’s growth should ensure a safe, convenient, and improved living environment for citizens.

Lok Sabha Speaker’s OSD Rajeev Datta also accompanied him during the inspection.
