86th Lok Chaupal Held, Showcasing Folk Traditions of Jyeshtha Month
Lucknow, May 2026 : The 86th edition of the monthly Lok Chaupal, organised under the ongoing series of the Lok Sanskriti Shodh Sansthan, was successfully held on Saturday at the Sangeet Bhavan in Vivek Khand, Gomtinagar. The gathering focused on the theme “Jyeshtha Month and Folk Mind,” featuring an engaging exchange on rural life, seasonal sensitivity, and India’s rich cultural traditions.
The programme began with a devotional rendition of Shri Ram Stavan by Archana Gupta, setting a spiritual tone for the evening. This was followed by a series of folk music performances by Neera Mishra, Madhu Tiwari, and others, who presented traditional folk songs reflecting the essence of regional heritage and seasonal emotions.
A collective recitation of Hanuman Ashtak and Hanuman Chalisa added a devotional rhythm to the event, drawing participation from attendees in a unified cultural expression. A special highlight of the programme was the presence of Ashutosh and Antara, Indian-origin participants currently residing in the United States, whose attendance added an international dimension to the gathering and underscored the global connection of Indian cultural traditions.
The event witnessed meaningful discussions on folk culture and social responsibility in the presence of senior social worker Dr. Smita Mishra and music scholar Gayatri David. Both dignitaries appreciated the initiative and emphasised the importance of preserving folk traditions while adapting them to contemporary cultural contexts.
A large number of participants contributed actively to the programme, including Avika, Mihika, Adrika, Atharv, Avyukta, Pari, Vanya, Sanvi, Ameya, Sunita Veer, Karnika, Gunashree, Shirshe, Suman Mishra, Sonia Singh, Shubhra Mishra, Vineeta Mishra, Smita Pandey, Kritika, Deepika, Shikha, Madhuri, Soni, and Neha Prajapati, among others. Their involvement reflected the inclusive and community-driven spirit of the event.
The programme was coordinated by Lok Chaupal in-charge Archana Gupta, who ensured smooth organisation and participation across all segments of the cultural evening. The Lok Sanskriti Shodh Sansthan expressed appreciation for the enthusiastic engagement of artists, guests, and attendees.
