North Eastern & Eastern States/Union Territories Tourism Ministers Conference – Participation Of Mizoram Tourism Minister Pi Lalrinpuii

Aizawl : On 2nd September 2024, the Union Minister for Culture & Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Sekhawat, and the Union Minister of State for Tourism, Shri Suresh Gopi, presided over the North Eastern & Eastern States/Union Territories Tourism Ministers Conference held at Vivanta, Shillong, Meghalaya. Mizoram was represented by Tourism Minister Pi Lalrinpuii at this event.

During the conference, Mizoram Tourism Minister Pi Lalrinpuii emphasized the importance of focused attention from the central government to further the development of tourism in the North Eastern States. She stressed the need to improve connectivity and enhance tourism infrastructure to attract more visitors to the region. Minister Lalrinpuii called on the central government to formulate well-considered plans and policies to support these initiatives. She also highlighted Mizoram’s plans to develop community-based tourism, which includes promoting local resources such as forests, agriculture, minerals, and protecting indigenous cultural heritage. She urged the central authorities to include favorable subsidies in entrepreneurship development policies and programs, particularly for youth involvement.

Minister Pi Lalrinpuii also invited the dignitaries and fellow Tourism Ministers present at the conference to visit Mizoram. She encouraged them to explore the unique aspects of Mizoram’s culture, traditions, and hospitality, and to support efforts to boost tourism across the North East.

At the conference, Dr. Lalrozama, IAS, Secretary of the Tourism Department, accompanied Minister Lalrinpuii. He provided a detailed PowerPoint presentation, showcasing the ongoing efforts and current status of tourism development in Mizoram.
