Cow Welfare Minister Inspects Cow Hospital and Shelter in Balotra
Jaipur, May 2026: Rajasthan Cabinet Minister for Animal Husbandry, Cow Welfare, Dairy and Devasthan Departments, Joraram Kumawat, on Friday conducted a surprise inspection of the cow hospital, cow shelter (Gaushala), and Nandishala operated by the Annapurna Gaushala Seva Samiti in Balotra district.
During the visit, the minister closely reviewed the arrangements at the shelter and assessed the care being provided to the cattle housed there. Upon his arrival, office-bearers of the committee and local public representatives accorded him a warm welcome.
Keeping in view the severe summer conditions, Kumawat sought detailed information regarding the availability of shade shelters, cool drinking water, nutritious fodder, and medical facilities for the cattle. He also visited the cow hospital that provides treatment to sick and injured cows and instructed doctors to ensure the best possible medical care.
On the occasion, the minister personally fed green fodder and jaggery to the cattle and sought the blessings of Gau Mata.
Prayers for the Prosperity of the State
The Cabinet Minister also visited temples located within the gaushala premises and offered special prayers to Lord Shiva, Lord Shri Ram, and Lord Hanuman. Bowing before the deities, he prayed for the happiness, peace, prosperity, and good health of all residents of the state.
Minister Attends Shrimad Bhagwat Katha
Kumawat also participated in the musical Shrimad Bhagwat Gyan Yagya Katha being organized in support of cow welfare at the gaushala premises. He paid respects to the Vyas Peeth, received blessings from the storyteller, and spent some time listening to devotional hymns and episodes from the Bhagwat Purana. The atmosphere turned deeply spiritual during the event.
Gaushala’s Service is Truly Admirable: Kumawat
Speaking on the occasion, Kumawat said that the Annapurna Gaushala Samiti’s dedicated service to abandoned, sick, and injured cattle is truly commendable and worthy of respect.
He noted that while the government is extending support through grants and policy initiatives, the operation of such large gaushalas would not be possible without active participation from society. He emphasized that the state government remains fully committed to strengthening the cow welfare, dairy, and animal husbandry sectors.
“We are ensuring that no gaushala in the state faces any shortage of fodder, water, or medicines,” he said.
The minister further remarked that the gaushala complex presents a unique confluence of spirituality and service. “On one side, there is service to Gau Mata; on the other, there are the divine courts of Lord Shri Ram and Lord Mahadev, while the sacred flow of the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha enriches the atmosphere. This is a remarkable and inspiring confluence. The Bhagwat Katha teaches us the art of living, while service to cows teaches us compassion,” he said.
