Maharashtra’s Digital Initiatives from Nandurbar, Pune and Sangli Selected for National e-Governance Awards

New Delhi, June 2026 Maharashtra has achieved significant recognition at the 29th National e-Governance Awards 2026, announced by the Government of India to honour institutions that have demonstrated excellence in implementing digital governance initiatives. Three innovative projects from the state — those of the Nandurbar Zilla Parishad, Pune Municipal Corporation, and Kadepur Gram Panchayat in Sangli district — have been selected among the national winners.

The awards recognise outstanding efforts in enhancing administrative efficiency, transparency, and the effective use of technology to improve public service delivery. This year, 17 initiatives from across the country have been chosen for national recognition, with Maharashtra securing a notable place through its three impactful projects.

A significant feature of the 2026 awards is the introduction of a separate category for Gram Panchayats for the first time, acknowledging exemplary efforts in digitising governance and service delivery in rural areas.

Recognition for Innovative Digital Governance

The selected initiatives from Maharashtra have successfully leveraged modern technology to make governance more citizen-centric, efficient, and accessible.

The ‘e-Arogya Dhamani’ initiative of the Health Department in Nandurbar district has been selected for national recognition for providing fast, high-quality, and technology-enabled healthcare services to residents of tribal and remote regions. The project has significantly improved healthcare accessibility in areas that traditionally faced geographical and infrastructural challenges.

Similarly, ‘Pune 360’, an innovative digital platform developed by the Pune Municipal Corporation, has been chosen for its contribution to urban governance. The platform enhances transparency and enables citizens to access a wide range of municipal services through a single digital interface, simplifying interactions between residents and the civic administration.

In the rural governance category, Kadepur Gram Panchayat in Sangli district has been recognised for its extensive adoption of digital technology at the village level. By digitising governance processes and improving service delivery mechanisms, the Gram Panchayat has emerged as a model for rural digital empowerment. Its efforts in advancing digital governance have earned it a place among the national award recipients.

Awards and Incentives

Under the National e-Governance Awards programme, winning institutions will receive a trophy and a certificate of recognition.

In addition, Gold Award winners will receive a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh, while Silver Award winners will receive Rs 5 lakh as an incentive. The financial assistance can be utilised for expanding public welfare initiatives and addressing resource gaps in governance and service delivery.

Award Ceremony in Jaipur

The prestigious awards will be presented during the 29th National Conference on e-Governance, scheduled to be held in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Distinguished dignitaries will confer the honours on the winning institutions during the national event.

The recognition highlights Maharashtra’s growing leadership in digital governance and its commitment to using technology to deliver transparent, efficient, and citizen-focused public services across both urban and rural areas.
