Cooperative is a Powerful Instrument for Collective Social Progress : Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Strengthening Cooperative Sector to Accelerate Rural Economic Growth

Bhopal, JUne 2026 : Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that the cooperative sector is the backbone of Madhya Pradesh’s rural economy. He stated that the State Government is committed to further strengthening the sector to promote self-reliance among farmers, rural communities and small entrepreneurs.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that cooperatives are not merely an institutional arrangement but a time-tested and powerful means of collective social progress. By integrating modern technology, transparency, and public participation into the cooperative movement, the Government aims to take it to new heights. He added that the State is ensuring the timely, transparent and result-oriented implementation of the cooperative model so that citizens receive its maximum benefits.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the functioning of cooperative institutions across the state will be simplified and made more effective to ensure easy access for farmers to credit, seeds, fertilisers and marketing facilities. He stated that the Government is continuously promoting innovation in the cooperative sector. Through new initiatives, youth and farmers are being actively engaged to transform cooperation into a mass movement.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that the day-to-day operations of cooperative institutions are being integrated with digital platforms to enhance transparency and accountability. Along with strengthening the financial position of cooperative societies, efforts are being made to enhance their accountability. He said that the network of cooperative institutions is being expanded across the state, with innovation, transparency, and public welfare being prioritised through the effective implementation of departmental schemes. The Chief Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment to providing a new direction to the cooperative sector. With the support of the Cooperation Department, efforts are also being made to accelerate programmes related to farmer welfare, agricultural development, tribal area development, and rural development.

Continuous Coordination with Central Government to Strengthen Cooperative Sector

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that the State Government is maintaining close coordination with the Central Government to provide a new impetus to the cooperative sector. He informed that the computerisation of more than 4,536 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) in Madhya Pradesh has been successfully completed. Information relating to all these PACS has also been updated on the National Cooperative Database (NCD) Portal in accordance with the requirements of the Government of India.

To support the effective implementation of White Revolution 2.0 and promote financial inclusion, bank accounts of dairy cooperative societies and their members have been opened in District Central Cooperative Banks. Other institutions have also been directed to conduct transactions through cooperative banks.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav further informed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL) and the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Seed Federation. This partnership has generated business worth approximately ₹17 crore, and 844 PACS have already obtained membership. Similarly, a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL) and the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Marketing Federation, with around 1,335 PACS becoming members. In addition, a separate Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL) and the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Union. So far, 1,612 PACS have enrolled as members under this initiative.
