Community Building Efforts by the Varkari Sect – Chief Minister Eknath Shinde
Pune : The Varkari sect dedicates its entire existence to its principles, providing spiritual guidance and contributing to social enlightenment for the state and the nation. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde praised the sect, stating that it shows the path of righteousness and plays a crucial role in society’s upliftment.
At the 93rd death anniversary of H.B.P. Maroti Maharaj Kurekar and the 70th Abhishtchintan ceremony of Ramrao Maharaj Dhok at the Fruit Wale Dharamshala in Alandi, Chief Minister Shinde honored them with the Shanti Brahma and Tulsidas Awards. Saint Puja was performed as part of the ceremonies. Public Works Minister Dadaji Bhuse, MP Srirang Barane, and other dignitaries were present.
Chief Minister Shinde emphasized that Maharashtra is the land of saints, and its saintly traditions, especially the Varkari sect, are a source of pride. He highlighted that the spiritual foundation of the Varkari sect surpasses political importance. Chanting Panduranga’s name brings peace, erases negativity, and encourages the sharing of others’ suffering.

The Chief Minister further honored the contributions of H.B.P. Kurekar Maharaj, Ramrao Maharaj Dhok, and the Varkari educational institution, which has been promoting the teachings of saints for over 107 years. He assured that the government would soon address technical challenges in the Varkari Mandal and hostels.
Shinde also outlined various government initiatives, including the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, vocational education for girls, and relief for farmers affected by natural disasters. He emphasized that Maharashtra leads the nation in industrial growth and foreign investment, attracting 52% of the country’s total foreign capital.

Minister Dadaji Bhuse announced that the Warkari Corporation has been established, and future plans include an honor pension scheme for kirtankars. The government’s efforts, Bhuse noted, will ensure that the teachings of saints endure and continue to bring spiritual satisfaction to devotees.
H.B.P. Ramrao Maharaj Dhok said that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has honored the Varkari community. Shantibrahma H.B.P. Maroti Maharaj Kurekar created thousands of kirtankars (devotional singers). This institution has completed 100 years. The government builds the road, but the Varkari sect teaches how to walk on it, he added.
In most events, the organizers typically welcome the chief guests. However, in this program, the unique feature was that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who was presenting the awards, himself welcomed H.B.P. Maruti Maharaj Kurekar, H.B.P. Ramrao Maharaj Dhok, and other Varkaris.
H.B.P. Balkrishna Maharaj Shinde gave the introductory remarks.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri. Shinde released the third edition of the Sarth Gatha, published on behalf of the Varkari Education Institute, written by Natusingh Rajput.
Many dignitaries and members of the Varkari sect attended the event in large numbers.
