Chakradhar Samaroh 2024: Kathak and Odissi dance mesmerized the audience
On the occasion of 39 years of Sur-taal, Chhand and Ghungroo, the audience was mesmerized by the Kathak and Odissi dances presented by artists from Delhi, Calcutta and Raipur on the second day of the Chakradhar Samaroh. Famous Odissi dancers Dr. Poornashree Raut and Padmashri Ranjana Gauhar and Kathak dancer Ms. Dipannita Sarkar gave their wonderful performances. The expressions of these artists captivated everyone.

Renowned Odissi dancer Dr. Purnashree Raut presented a religious worship song dedicated to Lord Jagannath through Odissi dance. The audience got immersed in a devotional atmosphere after watching the religious worship song of Lord Jagannath. Her expressive Odissi dance mesmerized the audience. Lucknow Gharana Kathak dancer Ms. Dipannita Sarkar, who had come from Delhi, and Jaipur Gharana artist Saurabh presented a unique confluence of Kathak of Lucknow and Jaipur Gharana. The accompaniment of the dancers with harmonium, flute, tabla and pakhavaj was a delight to watch.
Ms. A. Mandakini Swain of Delhi mesmerized everyone by singing Saajan Mora Ghar Aavai in Raga Josh style at Chakradhar Samaroh. Along with this, she also presented Shyam Kalyan. The perfect amalgamation of tradition and modernity was seen in the splendid performance of the famous Sarod player Saugata Ganguly who came from Kolkata. The fluid sound of the Sarod along with the beats of the Tabla gave a unique blend of the depth, subtlety and emotionality of the music. Padmashri Ranjana Gauhar of Delhi brought alive the life journey of Kabir through Odissi dance. The fellow artists presented the different stages of the life of the mystic poet Kabir, his teachings and experiences in an interesting way through dance postures. During the performance, a melodious and rhythmic performance was also given on Kabir’s couplets and bhajans.
At the Chakradhar Samaroh, folk singer Mr. Vijay Sharma and his team won the hearts of the audience with their Chhattisgarhi songs. The audience danced to their songs like Kori-Kori Nariyal Chadhe, Mahua Jhare. Bhopal’s classical singer Ms. Vani Rao gave a mesmerizing performance.
