The ‘Nagpur Pattern’ of the Ladki Bahin Yojana to be Implemented Across the State – Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare
Nagpur : By depositing nearly 30 lakhs of financial benefits from the ‘Chief Minister – Majhi Ladki Bahin’ scheme into the Nagpur Mahila Samman Cooperative Credit Institution, the women of Nagpur district have set an exemplary example of the proper allocation of these funds. This was highlighted by Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare today. She also encouraged women to register their products on the ‘Yashaswini’ web portal for online sales of products manufactured by women.
Minister Aditi Tatkare inaugurated an agarbatti (incense stick) unit in the Jagdamba Mahalakshmi Temple area of Koradi. She was speaking at the ‘Chief Minister – Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, Women’s Empowerment Mela’ organized after the inauguration. MLA Chandrasekhar Bawankule, Tekchand Savarkar, Commissioner of the Women and Child Development Department Dr. Prashant Naranvare, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Vinayak Mahamuni, Sarpanch Narendra Dhanole, and others were present at the event.
Aditi Tatkare stated that the state government has taken significant steps towards women’s empowerment. Through the Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, a benefit of Rs 1500 is credited to women’s bank accounts every month. In Nagpur, benefits were deposited in the accounts of 52 lakh women by August 31 as part of the second phase of the scheme. She noted that 3,000 women from Nagpur district collectively raised Rs 1000 out of the Rs 1500 deposited into their accounts and contributed it to the Nagpur Mahila Samman Cooperative Credit Union, boosting the momentum of women’s savings groups. She emphasized that the aim of the scheme is to empower women, and the steps taken by the women of Nagpur district have set an example for the entire state. The registration deadline for the scheme has also been extended until the end of September.
Minister Tatkare also highlighted that the Agarbatti unit in Koradi will provide employment opportunities for women, and she encouraged them to register on the ‘Yashaswini Portal’ to sell their products online. This portal, recently launched by the Department of Women and Child Development, has already registered 11,000 products from women’s self-help groups across the state through Mavim and Umed. She appealed to more women across the state to list their products on the portal.
She praised the initiative of providing bicycles to Anganwadi workers and helpers in Nagpur district, funded by the district mining fund, and announced that the Women and Child Development Department had approved the proposal. Additionally, she mentioned that 1,400 pink rickshaws with female drivers would be introduced in Nagpur city, creating employment opportunities for women. She added that approval would be granted to launch similar pink rickshaws at Jagdamba Mahalakshmi Sansthan Korodi and in Kamathi taluk.
Earlier, Minister Tatkare inaugurated 10 mobile food stalls operated by the Mahila Economic Development Corporation of Nagpur, funded under an innovative scheme by the District Planning Department. She also distributed loan checks to women’s self-help groups from ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank. MLA Chandrasekhar Bawankule, Tekchand Savarkar, and Dr. Prashant Naranvare also addressed the audience during the event.
