Delhi Metro Restores Full Services as Security Restrictions Are Lifted Across National Capital

New Delhi, July 2026: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Sunday announced the complete restoration of normal operations across its network, with all Metro stations now open for both entry and exit after temporary restrictions imposed during heightened security arrangements linked to nationwide protests over the alleged NEET paper leak controversy.

In an official update posted on social media platform X, the DMRC confirmed that passenger movement had returned to normal across the entire Metro network.

“All stations of the Delhi Metro network are open (both entry and exit) for passenger services,” the corporation said, bringing relief to lakhs of commuters who had faced disruptions over the past two days.

The reopening follows a phased restoration of services that began on Saturday evening. The DMRC first resumed entry services at major interchange stations, including Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat, before reopening Janpath Metro Station later in the evening. With the latest announcement, all restrictions have now been lifted, and Metro services are functioning normally across the national capital.

The temporary closures were implemented as part of enhanced security measures following large-scale student demonstrations in Delhi demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. Protesters had gathered near Jantar Mantar and other parts of Central Delhi, prompting authorities to tighten security and regulate public movement in sensitive areas.

Earlier on Saturday, the DMRC had announced the closure of 18 Metro stations until further notice. The affected stations included Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhambha Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium, Jhandewalan, and New Delhi. Entry and exit services at these stations were suspended as a precautionary measure to assist law enforcement agencies in managing the security situation.

The easing of restrictions also coincided with significant political developments. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned from the Union Cabinet following mounting pressure over the examination controversy and widespread protests across the country.

Announcing his resignation, Pradhan said he was deeply saddened by the events of the past several days and wanted to ensure that the prevailing situation was not exploited by forces seeking to undermine national interests. His resignation has been viewed as a major step by the government in response to growing public anger over alleged examination irregularities.

With security conditions improving and restrictions withdrawn, Delhi Metro services have now fully resumed, restoring seamless connectivity across the city. The reopening is expected to ease commuter inconvenience and facilitate the movement of thousands of office-goers, students, and residents who rely on the Metro as the capital’s primary mode of public transport.
