Iran Warns US Against Escalation Ahead of Netanyahu’s Washington Visit

Tehran, July 2026 : Iran’s military on Sunday warned that the conflict in the Middle East could expand significantly if the United States continues military action against the Islamic Republic, issuing the warning just days before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s scheduled visit to Washington.

Iranian Army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia said any renewed US military strikes, particularly coordinated with Israel, would lead to a broader regional conflict. Speaking to state television, he accused Washington of being influenced by Israel and cautioned against further escalation.

Akraminia claimed the conflict had already spread beyond its initial theatre, pointing to recent hostilities involving Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement near the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a strategic maritime gateway linking the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

He further asserted that Iran’s military operational reach now extended across the region, including areas around US military bases in Jordan and countries along the Persian Gulf. According to him, the regional security situation has become increasingly challenging for the United States, forcing Washington to reconsider its military strategy.

The Iranian military spokesperson said Tehran was prepared for all possible scenarios and remained ready to respond to any further escalation. He stressed that Iran would continue to safeguard its national security and interests amid rising regional tensions.

The warning comes at a sensitive time as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday. The meeting is expected to focus on the evolving security situation in the Middle East, including the ongoing confrontation involving Iran and its regional allies.

Iran’s latest remarks underscore the growing volatility in the region, with concerns mounting that any further military action could trigger a wider conflict involving multiple countries and strategic waterways.
