₹623 Crore District Development Plan Approved for Beed for 2026-27

Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar Appeals for Collective Support to Fulfil Late Ajit Pawar’s Vision for Beed

Beed, July 2026 : Assuring that no effort would be spared at either the financial or administrative level for the development of Beed district, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of Beed district Sunetra Ajit Pawar said she was committed to fulfilling the vision of her late husband Ajit Pawar for the district.

Making an emotional appeal to all elected representatives to support her in realising the late Ajit Pawar’s dream of developing Beed, she said that development must be taken forward collectively. A meeting of the District Planning Committee was held under her chairmanship at the Planning Bhavan in the District Collector’s Office on Thursday, where a ₹623 crore development plan for 2026-27 was approved.

Environment and Climate Change and Animal Husbandry Minister Pankaja Munde, MP Bajrang Sonawane, MLAs Vikram Kale, Satish Chavan, Prakash Solanke, Dhananjay Munde, Sandeep Kshirsagar, Vijaysinh Pandit, Suresh Dhas, Namita Mundada and Basvaraj Patil, along with Secretary Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, District Collector and Member Secretary Vivek Johnson, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Jitin Rehman, Superintendent of Police Navneet Kanwat, District Planning Officer Sheila Misal and senior officials were present.

During the meeting, officials were directed to continue implementing the guidelines laid down by the late Ajit Pawar while preparing the District Annual Plan. A detailed presentation on the matter was made. Under the guidelines, no individual development work should have an estimated cost of less than ₹15 lakh. Projects should also not be split into smaller works and presented through separate estimates merely to obtain approval.

Sunetra Pawar stressed that funds allocated to the Zilla Parishad and other implementing agencies under district planning must be utilised properly and exclusively for public development. She said transparency and financial discipline were essential in implementing development projects. Planning should also strike a balance between administrative requirements and the demands raised by elected representatives, she added.

At the beginning of the meeting, Sunetra Pawar unveiled the logo and mascot prepared for the Late Khashaba Jadhav State-level Wrestling Championship 2026. She also reviewed preparations for the tournament.

Pawar said Beed has a rich legacy associated with the Warkari tradition. She said the development planning initiated by Ajit Pawar for the district was reflected in the views and demands put forward by elected representatives. She directed the District Collector to incorporate provisions sought by representatives for essential works in their respective constituencies into the district development plan.

MLAs Dhananjay Munde and Suresh Dhas, among others, raised several issues concerning sugarcane-cutting workers and the functioning of the Sugarcane Cutting Workers Corporation. Pawar assured them that a meeting would be held with the Chief Minister to resolve the issues. She also assured that other issues raised by elected representatives would be discussed with the ministers concerned and appropriate action taken.

She appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and work collectively to preserve the dignity and pride of their homes, society and district.

Dhananjay Munde sought provisions in the District Annual Plan for funds to compensate farmers affected by last year’s excessive rainfall, rural development, road development and restoration of the ancient temple at Dharampuri in Parli taluka.

Minister Pankaja Munde said Sunetra Pawar’s working style was similar to that of the late Ajit Pawar. She described Beed as a district of hardworking sugarcane-cutting workers and Warkaris and urged elected representatives to focus on basic and essential infrastructure, including schools, cremation grounds and roads. She also called upon the administration to remain people-oriented and work towards the district’s development.

MP Bajrang Sonawane demanded additional funds for road connectivity and repairs and action against those allegedly involved in fraudulent withdrawals under water supply schemes. He also sought assistance for families of people who died due to MSEDCL power lines and requested that the concessional crop-loan limit for farmers be increased from ₹3 lakh to ₹7 lakh. He also raised issues concerning the presence of Talathis and Gram Sevaks in villages, sugarcane workers and housing beneficiaries.

MLA Vikram Kale extended his support to Sunetra Pawar’s working approach and suggested that land should be earmarked for cremation grounds in all 435 villages.

MLA Namita Mundada called for simplifying the process of obtaining Farmer IDs and sought additional funds through the District Planning Committee for medicines for hospitals. She also demanded the release of pending funds from the previous year and called for greater awareness about HPV vaccination aimed at preventing cervical cancer among girls.

MLA Vijaysinh Pandit sought provisions for compensation to farmers affected by last year’s excessive rainfall and urged the government to fill vacant posts immediately to ensure repair of hand pumps.

MLA Prakash Solanke highlighted the poor condition of bridges on rural roads and sought funds for CCTV infrastructure in Dharur. He also called for efforts to attract industries to the district and secure CSR funding.

MLA Sandeep Kshirsagar sought provisions for construction of a Maratha Bhavan and hostels for girls in the district.

MLA Suresh Dhas urged officials to focus on proposals under various special component schemes, particularly those concerning milk producers, fodder availability for livestock and poultry farming.

Key Allocations

• ₹5.27 crore approved for construction of an artificial insemination centre building under Animal Husbandry.
• ₹2.99 crore allocated for a water supply scheme at the livestock breeding centre at Sakud.
• ₹4.89 crore approved for construction and repairs of 18 veterinary hospitals.
• Special funds allocated to the Deputy Commissioner, Animal Husbandry, and the Zilla Parishad.
• The Forest Department carried out plantation across 475.4 hectares in 2025-26, with a target of planting trees across another 263.30 hectares in the coming period.
• Under the Harit Beed Tree Plantation Programme, a target of 65.49 lakh trees has been set for the current year.
• ₹37.53 crore sanctioned as special grants for Gram Panchayat public amenities, primarily for construction of cremation-ground sheds at 91 locations and Gram Panchayat buildings.
• ₹12 crore sanctioned under energy development for promoting non-conventional energy systems in 61 government offices.
• ₹2 crore approved for construction of the Beed District Library building, with the overall project plan estimated at ₹4.95 crore.
• ₹11.21 crore earmarked for the development of Kankaleshwar Temple.
