Various Programs to Celebrate World Tourism Day by MTDC
Mumbai – The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) will celebrate World Tourism Day 2024 on September 27, as it does every year. The United Nations has announced the theme for this year as Tourism & Peace. MTDC Managing Director Manoj Kumar Suryavanshi has informed that, in line with this theme, seminars, painting competitions, and essay competitions will be organized by all regional offices under the jurisdiction of MTDC.
This year’s World Tourism Day will be celebrated globally in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. In Maharashtra, the Union Ministry of Tourism and the Maharashtra State Tourism Department will mark the day through various activities. Regional offices, tourist accommodations, restaurants, boat clubs, and Kalagram venues under MTDC will celebrate Tourism Day with tourism-related activities up until September 27, 2024.
MTDC regional offices will host seminars featuring prominent figures, tourism experts, and professionals. Additionally, essay competitions will be held at each regional level with topics including Tourism: A Tool for Building Peace, Tourism and World Peace, Tourist Destinations of Maharashtra and their Message of Peace, Tourism of My Dreams, and India and Tourism: Ambassadors and Symbols of Peace. There will also be a painting competition for school and college students, themed around Tourism and Peace.
Prizes for the winners of the essay and painting competitions include a 2-night, 3-day stay for two people at an MTDC tourist accommodation, along with a certificate and memento for first-place winners. Second-place winners will receive a 1-night, 2-day stay for two, along with a certificate and memento, while third-place winners will be awarded 1-day accommodation for two, including lunch, a certificate, and souvenirs. Brochures will be published in tourist accommodations as part of the celebrations.
Additionally, MTDC will organize experiential tourism activities such as treks, jungle trails, and nature walks at safe, eco-friendly locations near tourist accommodations for guests. These initiatives are being led by MTDC Managing Director Shri Manoj Kumar Suryavanshi.
The World Tourism Organization of the United Nations has recognized the various programs, seminars, essay and painting competitions, and experiential tourism activities happening at MTDC’s regional offices across the state. This information has been published on the UN’s website.
