Players will get world class sports facilities along with residential training, education and good nutrition: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that by identifying 8-10 important sports popular in the state, players should be provided with residential training, education and good nutrition along with world class sports facilities. Our players should win medals in national and international competitions, with this goal we are working on expanding sports facilities. We have to take our sports talent to the world stage. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said these things while instructing the officials after reviewing the works of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department in his residential office today. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Shri Tankaram Verma was present during this.
Chief Minister Shri Sai took information from the officials about the sports infrastructure present in the state. He said that there is no dearth of sports talent among the youth in the state from Surguja to Bastar, we need to improve it. Shri Sai asked the officials to list and provide the information of the proposal sent for approval at the central level so that these can be discussed during his Delhi visit.
Chief Minister Shri Sai took information regarding the operation of Khelo India Center in the state and asked the officials to inspect it continuously. Referring to the National Archery Academy being built in Sanna of Jashpur district with the support of NTPC, Mr. Sai said that this initiative will lead to the development of this remote area, and the hill Korwas living in this area, who are naturally adept at archery, will also get an opportunity to showcase their talent. Chief Minister Mr. Sai directed for effective implementation of decisions taken under the Niyad Nella Nar Yojana with the objective of increasing sports facilities in Naxal-affected areas. The Chief Minister said that we have recently taken important decisions keeping in mind the interests of the players. We have to ensure that sports talents get full opportunity to flourish in the state.
Secretary of Sports and Youth Welfare Department Mr. Himshikhar Gupta gave information to the Chief Minister regarding the construction of Integrated Sports Complex in Jashpur, Raigarh. He informed about the schemes being run for the development of sports facilities including Sports Decoration Award, Sports Promotion Scheme and upcoming action plans.
Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain, Revenue Department Secretary Mr. Avinash Champawat, Chief Minister’s Secretaries Mr. P. Dayanand and Mr. Rahul Bhagat and other officers were present on the occasion.
