Chief Minister Instructs Serchhip Hospital Contractor To Resume Work
Aizawl : Today, Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma held a meeting with Serchhip town leaders at the Serchhip PWD IB. During the meeting, the Chief Minister addressed the delay in the construction of the Serchhip District Hospital due to a change in the scope of work under the CSR funding from PGCIL, which had caused the contractor to halt the work. He instructed the contractor to promptly resume work. The Chief Minister also mentioned that the Health Minister had been contacted via phone for assistance.
The Chief Minister stated that the CSR fund provided by PGCIL amounted to Rs. 21 Crore, with Rs. 18 Crore allocated for the building’s construction and the remainder for purchasing equipment. However, since additional funds are required to fully complete the hospital, the government plans to allocate Rs. 65 Crore for Serchhip Hospital from the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme – Other Than Road Infrastructure (NESIDS OTRI). Unfortunately, as per NESIDS OTRI guidelines, only Rs. 50 Crore can be allocated for hospital projects, thus the funding has been limited to Rs. 50 Crore. Consequently, a change in the scope of the hospital’s construction has become necessary. The contractor is expected to consult with PGCIL regarding their commitment.
Regarding this matter, the Chief Minister stated, “Due to the delay and complications with PGCIL’s contribution, the remaining funds will now have to be sourced from NESIDS OTRI. I urge the contractor to resume work promptly. If necessary, we will arrange for the required funds.”
