Announcement by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for ‘C’ and ‘D’ Category Employees in All Government Departments Regarding 20% Salary Increase and Bonus
Honorable Chief Minister Thiru. M.K. Stalin announced that a 20% salary increase and bonus will be provided to ‘C’ and ‘D’ category employees and workers in all government departments.
The meeting discussed topics such as the roles of essential services, pharmaceuticals, and administration, along with statistics regarding the number of workers employed across various key departments in Tamil Nadu. It highlighted the significant role of government workers in the economic development of India, aiming for a “1 trillion economy” by the year 2030.
Collection of surpluses and funds; Engineering, Medicines, Cosmetics, Chemicals, and Industrial sectors play a vital role across all important areas. The number of sign language dictionaries has increased, along with the number of linguistic staff, confirming this growth.
A sustainable workforce in the industrial sector is crucial. Welfare and government financial support schemes will contribute to India’s leading growth, targeting a “1 Trillion Economy” by the year 2030. The power of volunteers is significant, contributing to both raising awareness and development efforts in public institutions.
For the fiscal year 2023-24, Mr. M.K. Stalin announced a salary increase and bonuses for ‘C’ and ‘D’ category employees.
The amended Payment of Wages Act, 2015 has increased the maximum wage limit to ₹21,000. The minimum salary threshold in India is set at ₹7,000. All ‘C’ and ‘D’ category employees will receive a salary increase for the 2023-24 fiscal year, as detailed below:
- For ‘C’ and ‘D’ category clerks and employees, a contribution of 20 percent will be made, which includes an 8.33 percent salary increase and an 11.67 percent bonus.
- Employees of government agencies, such as the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation and other establishments, will receive an 8.33 percent salary increase and an 11.67 percent bonus, resulting in a total of a 20 percent increase and bonus.
- In general establishments without a specific salary structure, ‘C’ and ‘D’ category employees will receive an 8.33 percent salary increase and a 1.67 percent bonus, totaling a 10 percent increase.
- For those working in housing and water supply departments, ‘C’ and ‘D’ category employees will receive an 8.33 percent salary increase and a 1.67 percent bonus.
- Employees in drinking water drainage works will also receive an 8.33 percent salary increase.
- The Tamil Nadu Consumer Goods Corporation will provide a bonus of ₹3,000 to its employees.
Permanent employees earning below the minimum wage will have their salaries set at a minimum of ₹8,400 and a maximum of ₹16,800.
In total, 275,670 employees across 369 government public institutions will receive a total of ₹369.65 crores in salary increases and bonuses. This initiative aims to support employees and enhance their morale during upcoming celebrations.
The government’s actions will encourage and motivate employees in public institutions, and they will be welcomed with joy during future celebrations.
