CM Yogi gives nod in-principle to International Exhibition cum Convention Center in Lucknow
Lucknow : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given in-principle consent for the construction of an International Exhibition cum Convention Centre in Lucknow, which will feature world-class facilities.
During a meeting with senior government officials on Wednesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath discussed the format, construction process, and cost of the proposed International Convention cum Exhibition Centre. He emphasized the need for a well-equipped, high-tech facility to host events of national and international significance in Lucknow.
“The convention centre should be developed jointly by the Housing Development and LDA, with financial support from the state government,” he directed, setting a timeline of two years for the completion of the construction work.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the convention centre should be multi-purpose, capable of hosting significant cultural, political, state, and religious events, as well as musical concerts, all with grandeur and dignity. Additionally, the exhibition centre must accommodate various fairs and exhibitions, include an open theatre, and reserve land for nearby hotel development.
The Chief Minister instructed that the architecture of the building should reflect Indian culture and serve as a model for water and energy conservation. He also highlighted the need for the convention centre to permanently showcase Uttar Pradesh’s One District One Product (ODOP) items, along with local cuisine, folk art, and folk music.
Additionally, the Chief Minister directed the inclusion of parking facilities for small, large, and heavy vehicles, as well as provisions for fire safety, restrooms, and a food court within the convention centre.
While discussing the recently concluded UP International Trade Show, the Chief Minister emphasized that such events attract lakhs of attendees. He highlighted the importance of effective crowd management during these occasions, stressing that this consideration should be integral to the design and layout of the exhibition hall in the convention centre.
Officials provided details about the proposed structure of the convention center, revealing that it will be built on 32 acres of land in Vrindavan Yojana, the same location where the Defense Expo was held in 2020.
The site boasts excellent connectivity from all directions. With a capacity to accommodate approximately 10,000 people, the convention center will feature separate auditoriums, meeting rooms, and VIP lounges. Additionally, a unique ‘Panch Vatika’ showcasing the five elements will serve as a central attraction within the expansive complex.
