Chief Minister Delivers Compelling Presentation Highlighting Gujarat’s Achievements as a Leading State in the Chemicals and Petrochemicals Sector

Gandhinagar : Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel emphasized that Gujarat has achieved remarkable growth in the chemical and petrochemical sector over the past two decades under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. In this context, he stated that Gujarat has established itself as the petro capital and petro hub of India, owing to its robust industrial and logistics infrastructure. The Chief Minister further highlighted that Gujarat has emerged as the leading exporting state, accounting for 31 per cent of the total exports of chemicals and petrochemicals from the country in the year 2023-24. The three-day INDIA CHEM-2024 was organized in Mumbai by the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers and the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Government of India. Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel participated in the 13th edition of this Biennial International Exhibition and Conference, alongside Union Minister of Health, Family Welfare, and Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Minister of State Smt Anupriya Patel, and the Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. During the conference, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel delivered an impactful presentation showcasing Gujarat’s accomplishments as a leading state in the Chemicals and Petrochemicals sector. 

He noted that, in alignment with the Prime Minister’s vision, the Dahej PCPIR in Gujarat has fostered a favourable environment for the chemicals and petrochemical industries, complete with world-class facilities. The Chief Minister noted that Gujarat accounts for approximately 75 per cent of the production of dyes and intermediates. He also highlighted the state’s excellence across various sectors, including basic chemicals, specialized chemicals, polymers, fertilizers, dyes, and pigments. 

The Chief Minister also mentioned that this year’s Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit has seen the launch of 3,256 projects in the chemicals and petrochemicals sector, with a total investment of ₹5.34 lakh crore. He conveyed confidence that the INDIA CHEM-2024 summit will be instrumental in promoting ‘Atmanirbharta’ (Self-reliance) within the chemicals and petrochemicals sector, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Make in India, Made for the World’ while also focusing on environmental sustainability. 

Attendees at the summit included the Secretary of the Chemicals and Petrochemicals Department of the Government of India, senior officials, Shri Dipak Mehta, Chairman of the National Chemical Committee of FICCI, Chairman Shri Prabhdas, Shri Nikhil Meswani of Reliance Industries, and other prominent industrialists from the chemicals and petrochemicals sector.
