576 Complaints of Code of Conduct Violations Received on C-Vigil App; 563 Resolved – Dr. Kiran Kulkarni

Assets Worth ₹14.90 Crores Seized

Mumbai : The Model Code of Conduct came into effect on October 15, 2024, for the Assembly General Elections – 2024 in the state. From October 15 to October 19, 2024, a total of 576 complaints regarding violations of the code were received through the C-Vigil app across the state, out of which 563 complaints have been resolved by the Election Commission. This means that a total of 98% of the complaints have been addressed, as informed by Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Kiran Kulkarni.

The C-Vigil app can be downloaded from any app store and allows citizens to file complaints regarding code violations. After a complaint is lodged, the relevant team conducts an inquiry and takes appropriate action.

Since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct for the Assembly elections, a total of 242,634 advertisements have been removed from government premises, 279,000 from public spaces, and 183,000 unauthorized advertisements from private properties. This includes wall paintings, posters, banners, cutouts, flexes, etc. Dr. Kulkarni also stated that action against unauthorized advertisements is ongoing.

Through various enforcement agencies of the state government, assets worth ₹14.90 crores have been seized concerning illegal money, alcohol, drugs, and precious metals. Various departments have been instructed that no new beneficiaries for any welfare schemes may be selected, new schemes cannot be announced, and the Election Commission’s permission is mandatory for the distribution of funds for welfare schemes. Dr. Kulkarni also mentioned that effective implementation of the provisions of the code of conduct is currently underway in the state.
