Russia Claims Precision Strikes on Kyiv Defence Facilities and Odesa Port Infrastructure

Moscow, July 2026: Russia’s Defence Ministry on Sunday said its armed forces carried out a series of overnight precision strikes on Ukrainian defence-industrial facilities in Kyiv and military logistics infrastructure in the Odesa region, claiming the attacks targeted sites involved in the production and storage of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and supplies for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, Russian forces launched coordinated strikes using high-precision ground- and air-based weapons against defence enterprises in the Ukrainian capital. The ministry said the operation focused on facilities engaged in the production, assembly and storage of drones used for military operations, along with key components required for their manufacture.

Among the reported targets was the Smart Intelligent System industrial enterprise, which Russia claimed manufactures various categories of unmanned aerial vehicles and essential drone components, including airframes, navigation equipment, optical systems, batteries and long- and medium-range UAV technologies.

The ministry further alleged that another strike hit a drone assembly and storage complex located in the southwestern part of Kyiv. According to Russian officials, the facility was capable of producing up to 1,000 drones every month, including AQ-400 “Scythe”, AQ-100 “Bayonet” and RQ-100 “Scout” reconnaissance drones. Russia claimed the facility operated with the assistance of specialists from a Ukrainian-American company.

In addition to the strikes in Kyiv, Russia said it targeted infrastructure at the Port of Chornomorsk in Ukraine’s Odesa region. The ministry stated that fuel storage tanks and logistics facilities used to supply the Ukrainian military with fuel, lubricants and other military equipment were successfully hit during the operation.

The Russian Defence Ministry asserted that all designated targets had been struck as planned, although Ukrainian authorities had not immediately commented on the claims or independently verified the reported damage.

The ministry also released an operational update on Russia’s air defence activities, stating that its forces intercepted eight guided aerial bombs and 1,060 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over the previous 24 hours along various sections of the frontline.

According to Moscow, Russian forces also conducted strikes on multiple Ukrainian military assets over the past day, including logistics hubs, production facilities and storage sites used for long-range drones. The ministry further claimed that temporary deployment locations of Ukrainian military units and foreign fighters were targeted at 152 separate locations during the same period.

The latest military claims come amid continuing hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides intensifying long-range drone and missile attacks in recent weeks. Independent verification of battlefield claims from either side remains difficult due to the ongoing conflict and restricted access to affected areas.
