Fiji Bestows Highest Civilian Award on Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a prominent spiritual leader and humanitarian, has been awarded Fiji’s highest civilian honor in recognition of his outstanding contributions to promoting peace and uplifting communities globally. The President of Fiji, HE Ratu Wiliame M Katonivere, conferred upon him the title of ‘Honorary Officer of The Order of Fiji’ during a ceremony, acknowledging his significant efforts to unite people across cultures and foster harmony.

This marks the sixth time Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has been recognized with a top civilian award by a foreign nation, further solidifying his global influence. Through The Art of Living, the organization he founded 43 years ago, he has spearheaded numerous humanitarian initiatives that have had a profound impact worldwide. The organization’s work spans various areas including mental health, education, environmental sustainability, and the empowerment of women and youth, alongside programs focused on meditation and stress relief.

While in Fiji, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar engaged in meaningful discussions with key leaders, including Deputy Prime Minister Viliame Gavoka and Dirk Wagener, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Fiji. Their conversations revolved around The Art of Living’s potential role in Fiji’s holistic development, particularly in empowering young people, enhancing community mental health, and promoting the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda.

This award reflects not only Fiji’s appreciation for Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s humanitarian work but also its commitment to exploring sustainable solutions for social and cultural development. His recognition serves as a testament to the impact of spiritual leadership in addressing global challenges and fostering positive societal change.
