BJP’s Vision for Jharkhand: Amit Shah Launches 150-Point Election Manifesto
Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) “Sankalp Patra,” or manifesto, for the Jharkhand Assembly elections at a launch event in Ranchi. With BJP Jharkhand president Babulal Marandi, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Sanjay Seth in attendance, the manifesto emphasized BJP’s focus on development, contrasting it with the current Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government. Marandi criticized JMM for prioritizing personal interests over the state’s growth, expressing optimism that Jharkhand’s people are ready to support a BJP-led government.
BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo highlighted the manifesto’s focus on the welfare of farmers, women, and youth while covering significant topics like infrastructure and economic growth. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma added that the manifesto outlines 150 resolutions targeting various community needs. Shah appealed to voters, framing the election as a choice between corruption and progress, emphasizing that BJP’s governance under Prime Minister Modi is committed to development and safety for Jharkhand’s people.
In his speech, Shah strongly criticized Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s administration, accusing it of jeopardizing tribal safety by allowing infiltrators to occupy lands and threaten the local culture. Shah pledged that if BJP were elected, it would protect “Roti, Beti, Maati” (food, daughters, land) and remove infiltrators from the region to safeguard Jharkhand’s integrity.
The Jharkhand Assembly elections, covering 81 seats, are scheduled in two phases on November 13 and November 20, with the vote counting set for November 23. In the previous election, JMM secured 30 seats, BJP won 25, and Congress took 16.
