Tamil Nadu CM Releases 468.89 Acres from Housing Scheme Acquisition in Coimbatore

Due to the withdrawal of measures regarding land acquisition for the Tamil Nadu Housing Scheme in Coimbatore district, 468.89 acres of land were exempted from acquisition and released to the landowners. The Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. M.K. Stalin, officially handed over these lands back to the rightful owners.

Today (5.11.2024) in Coimbatore, at a public meeting organized as part of the Chief Minister’s Frontline Project, the Honorable Chief Minister, Mr. M.K. Stalin, announced that due to the cancellation of measures regarding land acquisition for the Tamil Nadu Housing Board in certain areas of South Coimbatore, North Coimbatore, and rural zones of Keerur, 468.89 acres of land were released from acquisition. This benefited 5,386 families in these localities.

The Chief Minister’s Frontline Project also addressed complaints about unutilized lands acquired earlier by the Tamil Nadu Housing Board. After careful review, the housing department, along with the Urban Development Agency, made decisions to return these unused lands across various districts, including Coimbatore.

The release order issued on 4.10.2024 exempts a total of 1141.68 acres across Tamil Nadu from acquisition under the housing scheme. This order includes specific lands in areas like Kalapatti, Chinnavedampatti, Vilankurichi, Kaoundampalayam, Uppilipalayam, Virakallam, Pettikuppam, and Kurumbapalayam in Coimbatore district.

The event was attended by several honorable ministers including the Minister for Municipal Administration, Mr. K.N. Nehru; Minister of Public Works, Mr. E.V. Velu; and other senior government officials, reflecting the government’s commitment to a transparent process and careful review of housing-related land acquisitions.
