DCMof Tamil Nadu, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Inspects Government Model School in Kolamedu Area under Viluppuram Municipality

Viluppuram : Honorable Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin, conducted an inspection at the Viluppuram Model Government School located in the Kolamedu area under Viluppuram Municipality on the night of November 5, 2024.

In the teacher training college campus located in Kolamedu, the Viluppuram Model Government School with hostel and dining facilities is functioning.

In this school, students from across Viluppuram district who were selected based on their academic qualifications through the EMIS (Educational Management Information System) were provided training to pursue higher education in institutions like IITs, medical, and engineering colleges. The school building includes a well-maintained hostel facility.

This school, which offers education from 9th to 12th grade, currently has 287 male and female students. Out of these, 181 students from 11th and 12th grades are using the school’s hostel and dining facilities.

During his inspection, Honorable Deputy Chief Minister reviewed the total number of male and female students residing in the hostel and examined the dining area, classrooms, and student accommodations. He interacted with the students and reviewed their learning skills and development. Based on this, he distributed English dictionaries and sports equipment to the students. He encouraged the students to utilize these facilities to excel in national-level higher education institutions.

Additionally, Honorable Deputy Chief Minister inspected the drinking water facilities, the kitchen, toilet facilities, and the CCTV security recordings in the hostel. He also reviewed the stock of food supplies and discussed the details of the meals provided to the students with the staff.

This inspection was attended by Honorable Minister for Higher Education Mr. K. Ponmudi, Assembly members Mr. Senji Mastan, Dr. R. Lakshmanan (Viluppuram), Mr. Anniyur S. Ramachandran (Vikravandi), Deputy Secretary for School Education Department Dr. Darez Ahamed, IAS, District Collector Dr. C. Palani, IAS, District Panchayat Council Chairperson Mr. S. Chinnaswamy, Additional Collector (Development) Mr. Sruthan S. Narayanan, IAS, District Chief Education Officer Mr. Arivazhagan, and several teachers.
