Various Applications for Voters and Candidates… ‘cVIGIL App’ Now Available in Marathi

The Election Commission of India has provided several IT applications for voters and candidates, including the cVIGIL, Suvidha app, Affidavit Portal, Voter Turnout app, Voter Helpline app, Saksham app for the differently-abled and senior citizens, KYC app, and the 1950 helpline. Here is a brief overview of these services:

cVIGIL (cVIGIL)

The cVIGIL app is an innovative mobile application for reporting violations of the Model Code of Conduct and election spending. Through this app, citizens can use their smartphones to upload photos, audio, or video during elections. cVIGIL stands for ‘Vigilant Citizen.’ The app is now available in Marathi. After a complaint is filed, GPS is used to locate the site of the violation, and the complaint status is tracked within 100 minutes.

Suvidha App 2.0

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has updated the ‘Suvidha 2.0’ mobile app to allow candidates and parties to easily obtain election campaign permissions online from anywhere. This user-friendly and more secure app includes features for candidates to download forms, request campaign permits, track permission status, and download approvals. It also provides information on the nomination process, election schedules, and ECI’s latest updates and orders.

Affidavit Portal

The Affidavit Portal provides the complete list of nominations submitted by candidates in elections. Any citizen can view and download candidate affidavits, accessing information about nomination acceptance, rejections, withdrawals, and competing candidates.

Voter Turnout App

The Voter Turnout app gives estimated voting percentages every two hours for each state, district, and constituency. It is active only during assembly, parliamentary, and by-elections. This app provides a quick and easy way to get an estimate of voter turnout for a specific area using real-time data from the ECI server.

Voter Helpline App

The Voter Helpline app allows voters to verify their name in the voter list, submit online applications for new voter registration, transfer to another constituency, register overseas, remove their name from the voter list, or correct entries. It also provides election schedules, candidate profiles, income statements, assets, criminal cases, and contacts for BLO, ERO, DEO, and CEO.

Saksham App

The ECI developed the Saksham app to make voter identification and registration easier for differently-abled (PWD) citizens. Through this app, basic facilities for disabled and senior citizens are made available. PWD and senior voters can request assistance on election day, and arrangements like transportation, wheelchairs, and helpers are available. The app is designed for ease of use, with large fonts and high-contrast colors, and provides information about polling locations and accessibility.

The KYC app provides voters with details about their candidates, including criminal history and other personal information.

Helpline Number 1950

To provide voters with all necessary election information and resolve grievances, a toll-free 1950 helpline has been activated at the state and district levels. Contact centers have been set up to assist voters.
