Muthamilarignar Kalaignar’s Statue of Thiruvalluvar at Kanyakumari: 25th Anniversary Celebration

The statue of Thiruvalluvar, established by the great Muthamilarignar Kalaignar at Kanyakumari, will celebrate its 25th anniversary on December 31st and January 1st. The Tamil Nadu Government has announced a grand celebration for these two days, which will be graced by the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. M.K. Stalin.

The statue stands as a beacon of wisdom, with Thiruvalluvar’s contributions revered globally, and the people of Tamil Nadu continue to honor his legacy. This iconic sculpture was established in 2000 at a height of 133 feet, marking the glorious Tamil heritage and culture. The statue has been a symbol of Tamil pride for over two decades.

The Tamil Nadu Government has planned a range of commemorative events on December 31, 2024, and January 1, 2025, marking the 25th anniversary of the statue. School and college students will also participate in various activities, including shorts, reels, and exhibitions on social media, reflecting Thiruvalluvar’s teachings and the Dravidian movement’s values.

Events Include:

  • The display of the Thiruvalluvar statue and its significance.
  • A 3D laser show of Thiruvalluvar’s statue.
  • Broadcasting of the celebrations via YouTube to Tamil communities around the world.
  • Special exhibitions at libraries and cultural centers worldwide to commemorate the event.

The Chief Minister, along with several dignitaries, will oversee the festivities, emphasizing Thiruvalluvar’s message of peace and unity. This celebration is expected to be a landmark event, celebrating the Dravidian ethos and the spirit of Tamil culture.

The Tamil Nadu Government also plans to host cultural and intellectual events, such as discussions, prize distributions, and exhibitions, in the lead-up to and during the main celebrations. These activities are designed to educate and inspire future generations about the teachings of Thiruvalluvar, who stands as a beacon of wisdom for all Tamil people and the world.
