Creation of a Book on the Historic Journey of the Winter Sessions in Nagpur

Meeting of Editors and Senior Journalists under the Chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Dr. Neelam Gorhe

Nagpur : On the occasion of the Winter Session in Nagpur, the discussions held in the House on several social issues, including Vidarbha development, as well as the people-oriented government decisions, have been a milestone experienced by the Nagpur Vidhan Bhavan. From cotton farmers here to deficit issues, highly insightful discussions have taken place during the Winter Session. There is a desire to create a comprehensive reference book that reflects this. Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Council, Dr. Neelam Gorhe, expressed confidence that an editorial board, consisting of powerful editors from three generations, will complete the scholarly creation of this book within the given timeframe.

A special meeting of senior journalists and editors who covered the Winter Session in Nagpur was convened by Deputy Speaker Dr. Gorhe. Under her chairmanship, this meeting was held in the Commonwealth Committee Room of Vidhan Bhavan. Present at the meeting were the Secretary 2 (in charge) of Vidhan Bhavan, Vilas Athavale, Director of the Vidhan Sabha Training Center, Nilesh Madane, Director of Information for Nagpur Division, Dr. Ganesh Mule, Former Editor Sudhir Pathak, President of Nagpur Press Club Pradeep Maitra, Editor of Lokmat, Shrimant Mane, Editor of Maharashtra Times, Shripad Aparajit, Editor of Tarun Bharat, Gajanan Nimdev, Editor of Pune Nagari, Ramesh Kulkarni, Senior Journalists Prabhakar Dupare, Anand Nirvan, Vishwas Indulkar, Shailesh Pande, Mahesh Updev, Ravi Gulkari, Vikas Vaidya, Vaibhav Ganjapure, and other distinguished journalists. These editors and senior journalists gladly agreed to contribute.

A decision was made on behalf of everyone to form an editorial board for the complete creation of the book titled ‘Nagpur Winter Sessions – Historical Milestones in the Legislative Council’. Accordingly, the editorial board was announced in the meeting under the chairmanship of senior journalist Sudhir Pathak. The members include Pradeep Maitra (Chairman), Shripad Aparajit, Shrimant Mane, Gajanan Nimdev, Ramesh Kulkarni, Shailesh Pande, Bhupendra Ganveer, Mahesh Updev, Prabhakar Dupare, Manish Soni, Anand Nirvan, Vikas Vaidya, and Director of Information for Nagpur-Amravati Division, Dr. Ganesh Mule. The coordinating editor is Nilesh Madane. It was also clarified that any necessary expansion will be discussed as required.

While discussing the proposed book, it was unanimously decided that the content should be complementary in terms of research and references. In particular, it was agreed that reflecting the experiences of journalists during the Winter Session will enhance its readability.

On this occasion, the senior journalists and editors present were honored by Deputy Speaker Dr. Gorhe, who presented them with copies of the book titled ‘The Need and Importance of the Senior House,’ published by the Maharashtra Legislative Secretariat.
