Korea: PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme: Interest increased in Korea district, target of 300 houses

Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is becoming increasingly popular in Korea district. The aim of this scheme is to provide relief from electricity bills by installing solar panels on the roofs of houses and promote energy self-sufficiency.

39 beneficiaries have registered
. A target has been set to install solar rooftop plants in 300 houses in the district. So far, 39 beneficiaries have registered for this scheme. At the same time, more than 2,000 people have registered their interest through the mobile app.

Relief to beneficiaries
Mr. Vishnu Patel, resident of Baikunthpur-Talwapara and Mr. Mithilesh Kumar, resident of Schoolpara have decided to install 3 kW and 2 kW solar panels respectively. They said that they got information about this scheme from newspapers and immediately contacted the Electricity Department. Both the beneficiaries said that this will not only provide relief in electricity bills, but they will also become energy self-sufficient.

Benefit of subsidy
Under the scheme, a part of the total cost of the solar panel is being given as subsidy by the government. 60 percent subsidy on solar unit up to two kilowatts. 40 percent subsidy is being given on capacity up to two to three kilowatts. A maximum subsidy of up to Rs 78,000 is being given.

Registration Process
To avail the benefits of the scheme, citizens will have to register online. After registration, eligible beneficiaries will have to submit bank account details and a cancelled cheque. It will take about 30 days for the subsidy process to be completed.

Collector’s appeal
Collector Mrs. Chandan Tripathi has appealed to the people of the district to take advantage of the scheme. She said, ‘Solar energy is green energy and it is environment friendly. By installing solar panels on the rooftop, electricity will be available for free and by giving the remaining electricity to the power company, additional profit will also be obtained.’ The collector has appealed to the general electricity consumers to light up their houses with solar energy by registering on the portal or mobile app of PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme and become energy self-reliant.
