Our aim is to provide permanent houses to all the homeless families of the state under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – CM Sai

The Chhattisgarh government in its manifesto had expressed its commitment to provide pucca houses to 18 lakh homeless families in the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) under ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’.

This important decision was approved in the first cabinet meeting under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. The Chhattisgarh government has taken another important step towards fulfilling its promise of providing permanent houses to 18 lakh homeless families of the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The Finance Department has released an amount of Rs 2,560 crore including the central and state share to be transferred to the beneficiaries.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai has said that our aim is to provide concrete houses to all the homeless families of the state under this scheme. This initiative is not only a residential facility but also a means of social and economic upliftment.

An amount of Rs 5,144 crore has been released so far

According to the information received from the Finance Department, a total amount of Rs 5,144 crore has been released so far in this financial year. The first installment of the Central share of Rs 1,550.30 crore, State share of Rs 1,033.70 crore, totaling Rs 2,584 crore and the second installment of the Central share of Rs 1,535.40 crore, State share of Rs 1,024.60 crore, totaling Rs 2,560 crore has been released. The amount will be directly transferred to the accounts of the beneficiaries soon, which will expedite the construction work.

Finance Minister Shri OP Choudhary said that efforts are also being made to receive the amount of the third installment under the scheme from the Government of India in this financial year, so that the construction of their houses can be completed soon.
