Tribal Development Minister Ashok Uike visits students’ agitation; After a positive discussion, the movement back
Yavatmal : Tribal Development Minister Prof. Dr. Ashok Uike visited the protest of the students which has been going on for the last few days in front of the Integrated Tribal Development Project office in Pandharkawda. On this occasion, due to positive discussion regarding the demands, the students withdrew their sit-in.
After visiting the protest, Mr. Uike understood the problems of the students and discussed with them. According to the annual inflation rate of the Government of Maharashtra, the DBT applicable in the district level boys and girls hostels under the tribal development department should be increased every year according to the inflation rate.
Attendance of at least 85 percent of boys and girls admitted in tribal hostels should be made compulsory. Also, the agitation starts for the major demands that hostel admission of such students should be canceled if they are absent continuously for 60 days.
On this occasion Mr. Uike along with Integrated Tribal Development Project Office, Pandharakwad Project Officer Suhas Gade and other officers and staff were present. Mr. Uike interacted with the students for a long time at the protest site, got to know their problems and discussed how they can be resolved. As there was a positive discussion to resolve the demands of the students at the government level, the students withdrew their protest in their presence.
