HPCL Adopts Red Pandas and Tigers: A Commitment to Wildlife Conservation
Mumbai : Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has taken a bold step toward wildlife conservation by adopting endangered species across two major wildlife sanctuaries in India. Listed as endangered by the IUCN Red List, Red Pandas and Tigers are now under HPCL’s care.
As part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations themed “Panchatatvon Ka Maharatna,” HPCL has adopted three Red Pandas—Lucky, Motok, and Dokhbu—at the Himalayan Zoological Park (HZP) in Gangtok, Sikkim. Additionally, it has taken responsibility for two tigers, Bajirao (T-5) and Shrivalli (T-3), housed at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) in Mumbai.
Preserving Biodiversity
This initiative highlights HPCL’s dedication to preserving biodiversity. Red Pandas, rare and symbolic of ecological balance, will receive improved care through HPCL’s sponsorship, which covers their dietary, medical, and habitat needs.
Similarly, HPCL’s adoption of Bajirao, a 12-year-old tiger, and Shrivalli, a 4.5-year-old tigress, underscores its commitment to protecting India’s national animal. Tigers play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance, aiding forest regeneration, and boosting ecotourism. HPCL’s support ensures their enhanced care and conservation.
Inspiring Stewardship
By integrating these magnificent creatures as mascots in its communication campaigns, HPCL aims to inspire communities to actively participate in preserving nature. This initiative reflects HPCL’s core values of power, energy, courage, and environmental consciousness.
HPCL’s adoption of these endangered animals symbolizes its leadership in corporate sustainability and environmental stewardship, reaffirming its commitment to a greener and healthier planet.
